The King Is Coming

King Saul is dead, and nothing seems to stand in the way for David to establish himself as the new king of Israel. But only his own tribe of Judah immediately recognized him as king. Possessing the authority to enforce his rule, David instead seeks to win over the rest of the nation, just as he had attempted to do with Saul. This is the way he would ascend to the throne. It is the way God's kingdom comes.
