Soon after he became king of Israel, Saul demonstrated his spiritual ineptitude for leading God’s people. His impatience with God coupled with his natural instincts caused him to justify his direct obedience to God’s commands. Like Saul, the excuses we make to keep us from total obedience to God reveal the root causes of our spiritual blindness.
