Covenant matters to God in the Bible. When God entered into a covenant with his chosen people, he was always faithful to fulfill his promises to them. Not so the Israelites. They were so drawn to idol worship and self absorption, they abandoned the God that loved them dearly. God brought his mercy to bear by providing deliverance for them over and over again throughout the book of Judges. In Judges 4-5 we find a dramatic deliverance story full of God's mercy.
