Malachi • God's Messenger Through the Centuries
Malachi 1:1-14; 3:10-12

For our first annual Global Focus Sunday at Crosstown, we take a look at God’s global purposes as expressed in the book of Malachi. There we find that God has a global purpose in saving the elect and choosing to love them. This global purpose also explains why God insists that his people worship him properly. Finally we learn that God’s global purpose is not limited by his people’s failures to worship him because the decisive work has already been accomplished on our behalf. And so God’s global purposes are accomplished in blessing his people who repeatedly fail him.

Malachi • God's Messenger Through the Centuries

Series Description

Malachi is the final book in the Old Testament and was the final prophetic voice of God until John the Baptist came some 400 years later. Malachi’s prophecy was given to the nation of Israel following their return home after a 70 year captivity in Babylon. Hopes for a return to pre-captivity prosperity were not panning out, however, and God sent Malachi to inform the people of his unceasing love for them. But he also pointed out the real source of Israel’s problems and the real solution to the sin that continued to plague them, and it is this message from God that continues to be proclaimed to us down through the centuries.
