Malachi • God's Messenger Through the Centuries
Malachi 1:6-10

What would God think of our worship of him, if he were to visit our church on Sunday morning? In this passage we find that God takes very seriously the quality of his people’s worship. Through his prophet, Malachi, God speaks of two essential attitudes he requires in worship. Only then does he consider the value of our worship offerings. God is jealous for his people to be sincere worshipers and not ritualistic worshipers.

Malachi • God's Messenger Through the Centuries

Series Description

Malachi is the final book in the Old Testament and was the final prophetic voice of God until John the Baptist came some 400 years later. Malachi’s prophecy was given to the nation of Israel following their return home after a 70 year captivity in Babylon. Hopes for a return to pre-captivity prosperity were not panning out, however, and God sent Malachi to inform the people of his unceasing love for them. But he also pointed out the real source of Israel’s problems and the real solution to the sin that continued to plague them, and it is this message from God that continues to be proclaimed to us down through the centuries.
