Having defended his claim to divine authority, Jesus goes on the offensive, demonstrating how his authority changes everything. He demonstrates how his authority affects first how we should interpret Scripture. Then he shows that a misinterpretation of the Scriptures is dangerous for society. Mark 12 ends with this hope: the right interpretation of Scripture depends not on the sharpness of the mind but on the posture of the heart, and Jesus can change that, too.
