Elect Exiles on the Pilgrim Pathway
Sunday, February 26, 2012
We begin our study of the book of 1 Peter by considering three important questions we need to answer about this work: who wrote it, to whom it was written, and why it was written. In answering these questions we find that the Apostle Peter wrote this letter, evidently to Christians who were scattered across Asia Minor as outcasts of the Roman Empire. They were also not well received by the natives of the places in which they now resided. Living as exiles and foreigners, the Apostle writes to encourage them to continue on in the faith, confident that their situation is in accordance with the divine plan for their lives.
